Through the Hills and Down AgainPosted by Jason Politte (Conway, AR, United States) on 17 May 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. [Scotland Series] (Image 2) As we continued on past the dam, we happened upon a lovely view of the range with a little spring-fed stream cutting through the hills on it's way to Lochan na Lairige. (Image 3) Making our way to the other side of the hills, we found our little unclassified road beginning to wind its way back down the hills as the sun began to peek through the clouds and light the peaks in the distance. A welcome surprise awaited us once we worked our way back down to level ground. :-) Interested in purchasing prints of my photographs? My wife Karen also has a photoblog at Open Door. @Kenny: Thanks Kenny! It's quite easy really as this is actually just one image file. I just create a new image in Photoshop that's black so it matches the black background of the blog. That image equals the width of the photos that I upload - in my case, that's 1200 pixels. For three photos, I make the height of the image 3x the size of the photos that I upload plus a bit so I can have seperation in between the photos. For, me that would be 2475 pixels. The 75 extra pixels are to allow the seperation. Then, I just copy and paste my edited and resized tiffs (not jpegs - don't want to compress an already compressed image when saving) onto the created black background image, save as a jpeg, and voila, there it is. Hope that helped! :-) @Stephen: Thank you very much, Stephen! Karen knows all of these places like the back of her hand, and knew how much I'd love it up there. :-) @CElliottUK: You'd be hiking for a bit if you ran out of petrol in that area. @Eric Cousineau: Thank you very much, Eric! @Nicou: Merci beaucoup, Nicou! Je crois que c'est mon préféré aussi. @Francisco Romero: Thank you very much, Francisco. @Denny Jump Photo: Thank you very much, Denny - it's really hard not to take beautiful images in Scotland. :-) I totally agree with you regarding Adobe's prices, and that is precisely why I still use Adobe Photoshop Elements version 1 I got many years ago for free with my film scanner. LOL Most of my editing is done in Canon's DPP software with touchups and final editing made with PS Elements. There's a few free plugins out there for Elements that greatly enhances the software. Unfortunately, I can't get them to work with my newer Vista machine. That'd be a problem if I was still shooting film, but as it is DPP fills those gaps nicely. Thanks again! @Steve Rice: Thanks Steve - I'd hate to see what you've been driving on here lately. @Suzanne: Thank you - Scotland actually. @Marleen: You're welcome, and thank you for the compliments Marleen. :-) |
