Sept. 7 2010 - Catching Karen's father, William Leszke, unaware while he plays with his Iphone somewhere in the general vicinity of Fort William.

Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United States

A splendid portrait, Jason - perfect exposure in difficult light. Good detail and no blowout. Excellent.

@Stephen Phillips: Thanks Stephen! The nifty-fifty worked a charm here. :-)

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Good capture Jason, it can be difficult with the light ever changing through a train window. So where is Karen's father from.....Texas......perhaps?
(Just that I know a Texan who uses Daddy-O as a nickname)

30 Mar 2011 9:16am

@Curly: Thank you, Curly! Karen and her dad are both Scots, so apparently that saying's no longer uniquely American. :-) Maybe Karen will chime in a bit later today.

Mhelene from Paris, France

You caught the intensity of his game playing (blank facial expression)! Well captured!

30 Mar 2011 1:43pm

Franz from Baden, Austria

nice portrait of a man in intense and rapt concentration! shame on him, though - he should have admired the scenery (if it was visible through all the clouds and rain)! ;-))

30 Mar 2011 1:49pm

@Franz: Thank you Franz! There were a lot of clouds and a bit of rain around at the time, but we eventually left that behind as we neared Mallaig.

Rick from Toronto, Canada

A very good portrait with natural light and lots of detail.

Karen P. from Conway, AR, United States

Yup - he's got that iPhone-stare going on!! :-) It was probably Tap Birds or something......either that or he was seeing is he could connect to WiFi in Ft. William (something that's not entirely impossible, you may be surprised to hear!).

R.e. the daddy-o expression, I am very happy to report that it originated completely from my dad himself - and we're both born-and-bred no, no Texan influence! ;-)

Very good portrait. Being a "stolen" photograph, it makes it more valuable.
