Shortly after purchasing a DSLR last year, I brought out my old bellows/50mm 1.4 set-up to try it out on a recently deceased dragonfly.

Interested in purchasing prints of my photographs?

Couldn't be clearer! Amazing detail, and I'm struck by how they look the same in the eyes, dead or living.

@Rick: Thank you very much, Rick! I considered placing a background behind it with PS with the dragonfly holding onto a twig. Perhaps I'll do that someday.

Twojays from Montana, United States

Yellow and blue threads in his/her wings! What a neat composition that even though wings are not fully shown, the image is arresting as is...... You know what? I think I don't want this close of a look. Gulp. Science takes a back seat with me as you know. Amazing capture though, really.

28 Nov 2011 3:43pm

@Twojays: LOL, Joyce. I'm glad you can appreciate it anyway. :-)

Ok, this is making me "weep" a little. Exquisite macros do that to me---I used to have bellows with my old Minolta setup which I sold to move into digital. I really, really, really miss that bellows and lens. Guess I will just have to enjoy images such as this one through your eyes.

2 Dec 2011 2:47am

@karla: Thank you very much, Karla - that's quite the response. I'm really happy this photo resonated with you. I would imagine you can find a bellows setup for your Nikon if you look around on Ebay - you never know what you might come across. :-) Thanks again!
