Taking a Closer Look

Posted by
Jason Politte (Conway, AR, United States) on 13 January 2012 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

The bluebird hopped from his fence to have a curious look at me before flying back up to his perch.

Stilll amazed by how blue bluebirds are!

@CElliottUK: Oh yes, they are very colorful birds and rather plentiful. We have a nesting box for them, so we get to see them with their young as well. :-)

Superb. The juxtaposition of such a pretty little bird, so vivid, against the rough textures of humankind... I love it.

A very curious and hesitant look on the bird...beautifully captured and perfect timing. I love taking pictures of birds ~ they never seem to stay still long enough for me to get a good shot though (ha ha). Have a nice weekend!

He's posing? How wonderful that you have residents in your bluebird box. Would we see picture eventually of the babies or is it best not to disturb them?

14 Jan 2012 4:15am

@karla: So it seems, Karla. Sorry it's taken so long for a response to your question - I just saw it as I was going through some of my older shots. I wouldn't disturb them while they're in the box, but once they leave the nest I might get some as long as we have some nest in our box this year. The young look so wildly different than the adult counterparts. They are darker with spots, which I assume is to aid in camoflauge. Thank you very much.
